Turtle Watching Expedition
About This Tour
Experience one of nature's most moving spectacles on our Turtle Nesting Evening Tour. Boa Vista hosts the third-largest population of loggerhead sea turtles in the world, and during nesting season (June to October), these ancient creatures return to the beaches where they were born to lay their eggs.
As darkness falls, we'll take you to a protected nesting beach where, under the guidance of trained turtle conservationists, you'll witness female loggerheads emerge from the ocean to dig their nests and lay their eggs. Watch in awe as these prehistoric creatures, some weighing over 100kg, perform their ancient ritual by moonlight.
This is an eco-tourism experience designed with turtle conservation in mind. Our guides are trained in responsible turtle watching, ensuring minimal disturbance to the animals. You'll learn about the incredible life cycle of these endangered creatures and the conservation efforts protecting them on Boa Vista.
Red-light torches are used to avoid disturbing the turtles, and strict protocols ensure their safety. This experience is limited in numbers to protect the wildlife, making it an exclusive and intimate encounter with nature.
